I took this photograph when I was 10 years old. It was during a summer vacation in France. I was longing to use my mother's Yashica camera and it took some convincing for her to agree. She taught me how to use it and in this photograph I managed get the aperture and the speed right so that I get the right exposure. I was very proud of this photo when we developed it back home in Germany, also because of the composition. I remember standing barefoot on a large stone which enabled me to get the right angle. I photographed my mother and brother who was 4 years old at the time. My sister Barbara was photographed on her own on the same day.
