Hartmut Jäger

At 19, Hartmut Jäger was already married and about to become a father. Unfortunately he did not see his child until she was 4 years old, when he came back from the war, a somehow different man. Three months after this portrait was made (one of two shot at the same time and place: his and his wife's Hildegard) World War 1 broke out and soon after Helmut was recruited. He was a very tall man, but in my memories he's hunched up with a cane.
